12 boat neck blouse designs to add to your Indian wear wardrobe

In a bid to lend our traditional wear a decidedly modern spin, our wardrobes have become so heavily focused on off-shoulders, ruffles and cut-outs, that certain time-tested styles have fallen by the wayside. And the boat neck serves as one such example. Inspired by the wide necklines on sailor suits, it was popularised by Coco Chanel in the 1930s. The bateau neck, as it is also called, found its firm place in fashion history when championed by Hubert de Givenchy in the iconic LBD he designed for Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Closer home, the boat neck has been a favourite with yesteryear actor’s such as Saira Banu and Mumtaz too.

While the boat neck has become synonymous with Meghan Markle’s post-wedding repertoire today, the style needn’t be restricted to just your western ensembles. A boat neck blouse is a winning addition to your Indian silhouettes too, be it a voluminous lehenga or a snug sari. A modest alternative for those vary of plunging necklines or off-shoulder styles, this must-have blouse design assures sophistication and a contemporary touch.

Asal by Abu Sandeep’s boat neck blouse features mirror work and uses a sheer panel to create peek-a-boo drama, while at Shivan & Narresh, strategic embroidery detailing gives the impression of a bejewelled neckline. Ilk’s delicately embroidered version is perfect to be paired with handloom drapes. Looking for something festive, yet understated? Try Torani’s all-gold approach.

Why No One Comes Close To You, By Zodiac Sign

Why No One Comes Close To You, By Zodiac Sign

He won’t be ghosting you anytime soon.

People are like snowflakes, no two are alike. It’s no wonder that people who love you think of you as so special. It’s because you are! In a world full of people, no one can compare to you. You are one of a kind and the right person will see that in you, immediately.

It’s easy to become hesitant when you have someone important to lose. It might not be because of something that they say or do, but everyone has a little voice in their head that whispers the cruelest lies.

Your insecurities soon manifest themselves into negative thoughts which can be easily projected onto your partner and relationship. You might think that you’re not pretty enough or not worth keeping around.

You’ll then start distancing yourself or consider bolting before they have the chance to. However, most of the time you’re just overthinking. If you were actually every bad thing that you thought, they wouldn’t be there in the first place.

Some people need the extra assurance though and that’s where astrology comes into play. Astrology is most associate with horoscopes and predictions. People check it as a joke and make fun of those who truly believe in it.

But even if you’re not a die-hard believer, there is legitimacy to it. Your horoscope sign gives insight into some of your most inherent attributes. For example, as a Taurus I am ungodly stubborn.

With the incessant need to fight for my casues, my arguments are usually very heated. This traces back to my zodiac sign as all Taurus’s are innately stubborn; this specific trait binds us together.

However, there are attributes corresponding with each sign that show not only how they are fundamentally, but also what they look for in others. For example, if your sign is strict while your partners is easygoing, you two are compatible.

These can help to reassure you that you’re meant to be in their life. You are already special, with or without a partner.

But if you have one and you have any hesitations, look to the stars and know that you’re worth it. If not for them, then for yourself.

Here’s why no one compares to you, and what it is that makes you unlike anyone else, per astrology.

ARIES (March 21 – April 19)

Aries like a challenge. You’re special to them because you continuously encourage them to be at the top of their game. You’re honest with your intentions so they don’t feel forced to do or be anyone. Whether it’s sexually, academically, socially, or professionally, they see endless potential in you and will work to rise to your level.

TAURUS (April 20 – May 20)

Craving stability, your Taurus sees a future with you. They love romance and will cling strongly to those that love. With you, they don’t feel like they have to work to keep you in their loves. Your love is easy and exciting. You’re special to them because they don’t have to prove anything to you.

GEMINI (May 21 – June 20)

Geminis need to be continuously stimulated. Easily bored, they like a conversation that never ends. That’s what they found in you; a never ending stream of stories and new adventures. You sweep them off their feet by being just as exciting as they are. Day to day life is very boring to a Gemini but you’re fascinating.

CANCER (June 21 – July 22)

Cancers feel everything. They have a wide range of emotions and struggle to be understood. You provide them with a deep mental connection. They can talk to you about the bigger things in life and not feel like they are coming across as weird.

They can explain their conspiracy theories and talk about what happens after they die. Small talk is great, but finding someone to have long talks with in the middle of the night is rare.

LEO (July 23 – August 22)

Leos are very into themselves. What you give them is a reason to be humbled. It is very unusual that a Leo find someone they like more than themselves.. You give them a reason to step back and care for someone else. They can’t lose you because you’re too valuable. Not in a selfish way, but because you knock them off their feet. Like the Grinch, you make their heart grow three sizes bigger.

VIRGO (August 23 – September 22)

You fit perfectly into your Virgos life. Virgos are very methodical; they have a life planned out for themselves and you’re in it. You are exactly what they envisioned and after searching so long to find you, they will not give up on you. Even through hard times, they will talk things out and help you in any way they can. Where there is genuine honesty, there is a loyal Virgo not too far behind.

LIBRA (September 23 – October 22)

Libras are fickle but you gave them a reason to be sure of themselves and their decision to be with you. Relationships are work and Libras are up to the task. However, they run away at the thought of any small inconvenience or issue. However, you are so stable and sure that you never give them a reason to go. In other words, you’re perfect in their eyes.

SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21)

Scorpios are skeptics. They think everyone has ulterior motives. However, when they met you their views changed. You showed them how people can genuinely love and for that they are eternally grateful. Still pessimists at heart, you shined a small light on the best of humanity.

SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarius are very functional when they are single. It doesn’t mean that they enjoy not having someone, but they are very goal oriented and will do anything for the sake of their dreams. It just so happens that if you are in their life, you are their goal and their dream.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 19)

You bring out the kid in your Capricorn. Serious and determined, they make smart choices. You are their best investment. They care about you like they care about their blood. With them, you created a small family. Quirky traditions and unique dates make them believe that maybe people aren’t so bad. Otherwise how else would they have gotten so lucky?

AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18)

With you, your Aquarius found a kindred spirit; someone they could show their most vulnerable side too. Often aloof, they have trouble opening up to others until you offered them a safe space to do so. They trust you and that’s the best gift you could give them.

PISCES (February 19 – March 20)

Pisces believe in others but most importantly, they believe in you. You showed them your heart and they love you for it. When they meet someone they love, the connection is unbreakable and you officially became someone they loved. They chose you for your openness; you guys are on the same wavelength.

Mayank Agarwal eager to play in all three formats for India

Mayank Agarwal eager to play in all three formats for India

Mayank Agarwal has had an impressive start to his Test career

What’s the story?

Fresh from a triumphant Test series down under, Mayank Agarwal is now eager to play all the three formats for India. The opener stamped his authority against Australia in alien conditions and now wants the good form to rub into the limited overs formats too.

“Obviously the goal is to play for the country in all three formats,” Agarwal told Reuters. “I’m looking forward to playing limited-overs cricket for the country whenever the opportunity presents itself. I think I have the game (to succeed across formats). The basic remains the same, whether you’re playing Test cricket, one-day cricket or Twenty20 cricket. You only have to change your game and plan according to the format you are playing and the situation you are put in.”

In case you didn’t know…

With 3964 runs and an average of 50.17, Agarwal is a force to reckon with in the domestic circuit. Not too long back, he was pretty close to sealing a berth in the Indian limited-overs side, after having scored 287 runs from four one-day matches during the tri-series between India A, England A and West Indies A in 2018.

Back home, in a quadrangular series, the batter amassed 236 runs at an average of 59. He hit a ton against India A and a gutsy 69 versus Australia A.

The heart of the matter

He wasn’t a part of the Indian squad for the Test series initially, but an injury to Prithvi Shaw paved the way for the Karnataka man.

Then 27, Agarwal took a fresh guard and hit a watchful 76 and followed it up with a compact 42. He celebrated the impressive debut with a 77 in his next game. While many anticipated a hundred on cards, Agarwal was dismissed while attempting a six off Nathan Lyon. The dismissal still haunts the elegant batter.

“I’m still disappointed about that. I could have had a century there. I was looking to attack him. I have learnt from that mistake,” he said.

What’s next?

Now 28, Agarwal has everything to play for. He recently signed a bat sponsorship with CEAT. Though he is not in the scheme of things for the World Cup, there is a lot of cricket to be played in the coming days. A stand-out campaign in the upcoming IPL can help him achieve his current desire.

President Ram Nath Kovind approves Triple Talaq ordinance

Triple Talaq Ordinance is passed

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday approved the Triple Talaq ordinance, which means that the practice of instant triple talaq by Muslim men now becomes a penal offence.

ANi reported that Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Second Ordinance, 2019, inter alia, declares the practice of triple talaq to be void and illegal and it is now an offence punishable with imprisonment up to three years and fine.

“The Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Second Ordinance, 2019, has been promulgated to give continued effect to the provisions brought in by the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Ordinance, 2019. This Ordinance, inter alia, declares the practice of triple talaq to be void and illegal and also to make it an offence punishable with imprisonment up to three years and fine,” said a statement by Union Law Ministry.
After President Kovind’s approval, the Triple Talaq ordinance will come into force for the third time in less than a year.

It is interesting to note that a bill which seeks to make the practise of triple talaq void and illegal is already pending in Rajya Sabha. The bill is set to lapse on June 3 after the dissolution of the present Lok Sabha.

The ordinance was approved by the Cabinet on February 19.

Meanwhile, the Congress had promised to abolish the Triple Talaq law if voted to power in Lok Sabha election 2019. “Main aap logon se vaada karti hoon, ki Congress ki sarkar ayegi 2019 mein aur hum iss Triple Talaq kanoon ko khaarij karenge. Yeh aap logon se vaada hai. (This is my promise to you all, if Congress is in power in 2019, we will abolish the Triple Talaq law. This is our vow to you),” Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev had said at AICC minority department national convention on February 7.
