Kannada serial actor Rajesh Dhruva and his wife Shruthi’s relationship has hit a new low.
Video footage of Shruthi sitting with a beer bottle has gone viral, while Dhruva presented himself before the investigating officer (IO) of the All Women’s Police Station in Basavangudi and recorded his statements on Friday.
Dhruva told investigating officer Sathyavathy his wife subjected him and his mother to mental harassment.
Shruthi has filed a dowry harassment complaint against Dhruva and his mother. However, Dhruva claims that he had sent a divorce petition at the end of July last year for which Shruthi has not filed objections before the court until now.
Dhruva was questioned by the IO for over 1-1/2 hours where he maintained that all allegations made by Shruthi are false and baseless.
For the Rs 3 lakh dowry claim by Shruthi, Dhruva asked the police if she has any evidence for the claim. Dhruva also said Shruthi always suspected him of having an affair which was not true. Shruthi had even alleged that he was in a live-in relationship with a girl in Mysuru which Dhruva denied.
The police had summoned Shruthi and Dhruva to appear before the IO for counselling. But Shruthi claimed she was out of station.
Earlier the police had called both of them to appear before the IO on January 28, but both did not show up. The police have summoned Shruthi to present on March 8.
Talking to reporters, Dhruva alleged that Shruthi was trying to ruin his name in the industry and that he and his mother were harassed by her.
Meanwhile, Shruthi in her statements to reporters said when Dhruva was new to the industry, she supported him and now that his mother wanted him to marry another woman.
She also claimed that the mother-son duo was mentally harassing her.
Dhruva and Shruthi loved each other and got married in 2013. But years later they developed differences and started quarrelling after which she moved out of the house alleging that she was thrown out by Dhruva and his mother.
However, Dhruva claims that said the house was on the lease and his mother left for her hometown in Dharwad as she wanted peace of mind. He often stayed with his brother room in Rajajinagar as his wife had issues.
