Gandhinagar: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the prime minister of the Narendra Modi government, has expressed his opposition to the unification of the United Nations. Local tribals are protesting on the occasion when the Center and the Gujarat Government are looking forward to unveiling a single statue of one of the world’s tallest idols over the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31.
Nearly 75,000 tribals are ready to worry about damages due to the Narmada project, claiming land from them, not providing proper rehabilitation, and providing land and jobs in another area. A protest against Modi will be held. Even though the statue is being set up in their area, they are not concerned about the assurances given to them. On October 31, a group of 72 tribal villages in Narmada district will follow the mournful days and tribal leaders have made it clear that they should cook food in homes that day. Usually the tribal villages do not cook on the day of mourning if someone dies.
“The government has blamed our rights. There is no opposition to the great son of Sardar Patel. We will respect him forever. We are not the opposite of development. But the government is doing injustice to the tribals, “a tribal leader said. 9 districts of tribal villages are participating in their agitation. One hundred small and large tribal communities across the state support this concern. He said schools, educational institutions and offices are closed on 31st and tribal villages do not even have food in homes.
The impact of the Narmada project on 72 villages has gone up to 32 villages. 19 villages have not yet been rehabilitated. Some villages allege that they have paid only compensation. The Narmada Tribunal Authority said that some tribals are opposed to land acquisition and are not taking any compensation. The land allotted to them is not satisfactory to the land they are receiving.
